Frequently Asked Questions
We’re a friendly, family-run riding stable in the heart of the New Forest, specialising in safe, scenic rides for children (age 2+), families, and beginners.
General Information
Who can ride with you?
We welcome children from age 2 upwards, families, and adults with little or no riding experience.
What types of rides do you offer?
We offer gentle rides through the New Forest. Rides are mostly walking with some short trots – we don’t offer cantering, to keep the pace safe and enjoyable for everyone (and our ponies).
Do I need prior experience to book a ride?
Not at all! We welcome complete beginners as well as nervous riders.
What ages can ride?
Riders start from age 2 years (as long as a riding hat fits) and we have no upper limit—riding is for everyone!
How many people are in each group?
We keep rides small for safety and enjoyment – maximum 6 riders per group.
Do you cater for experienced riders?
Our rides are designed for beginners and families. We do not offer cantering and keep a steady, gentle pace with some short trots for those who are ready.
Can I drop my child off for their ride?
We kindly ask that a parent or guardian remains on site for the duration of your child’s visit. For safety and reassurance, we’re unable to offer drop-off sessions. You’re very welcome to walk along nearby or wait in the viewing area while they ride.
Do you have a maximum weight limit?
Yes, our maximum rider weight limit is 13 stone (82 kg). This is to protect the welfare of our horses and ponies and to ensure the safety and comfort of both rider and animal. If a booking is made for a rider above this limit, unfortunately we will be unable to accommodate them and the booking will be cancelled.
Do you offer group rides or private rides?
At present, we offer small group rides only.
Before You Arrive
Do I need to complete any forms before riding?
Yes. All riders (or a parent/guardian for under-18s) must complete a Rider Registration Form for safety and insurance purposes.
What should I wear?
Comfortable trousers/leggings and boots with a small heel are best. Or closed-toe shoes with good grip – hiking boots, or trainers. Avoid shorts, sandals, or loose clothing.
Do you provide helmets?
Yes, we provide riding helmets that meet current safety standards. If you bring your own, it must meet safety requirements and be checked by staff.
Do I need a body protector?
Optional. If you choose to wear one, it must meet BETA 2018 Level 3 standards and be your own.
Where are you located?
We’re based at Warren Farm, Balmer Lawn Road, Brockenhurst, SO42 7TT. You’ll find us just outside Brockenhurst village.
Is parking available?
Yes, we have a car park on site. Spaces are limited, so we kindly ask that you don’t stay too long, as we need to keep the area clear for horses and the next group of riders.
What time should I arrive?
Please arrive no more than 30 minutes before your ride. This gives us time to finish the previous session, fit hats, and get everyone safely mounted.
If you arrive more than 10 minutes late, we may not be able to include you, and unfortunately we can’t extend the ride
Is your facility accessible for people with disabilities?
Please let us know your needs in advance and we’ll do our best to accommodate.
On the Day
Will I get any instructions before the ride?
Yes – all new riders receive a safety talk, and the first 15 minutes are used to assess your riding level. You may stay on a lead rein if needed for safety.
How do you decide which horse I’ll ride?
Riders are matched based on experience, size, and comfort. If you’ve ridden with us before, we’ll do our best to pair you with your preferred horse, subject to availability.
How are your horses cared for?
Our horses and ponies receive daily care, veterinary check-ups, and plenty of rest and love. Their welfare is our top priority.
Can friends and family watch?
Yes, spectators are welcome! We just ask that you stay in the designated areas, remain calm and quiet around the horses, and keep young children closely supervised at all times.
Can I bring my dog?
Well behaved dogs are welcome out on the ride as long as they are kept on a lead

What an amazing place run by happy professional team! My 5 year old daughter’s first riding lesson was enjoyable, fun and she absolutely loved it! Hasn’t stopped talking about all that she learnt and the gorgeous Amazon! Thank you so much for fitting us in at a short notice - we all appreciate the experience so much! If we’d lived closer we would definitely have been regular visitors 😊Posted on Google![]()

My son had a ‘tween party’ for his 12th birthday. He & his friends had a really wonderful afternoon. The staff were so friendly & it was really hands on, the children got to groom & tack the horses before their ride. We got to use the barn for party food & the boys played pool. The children received a party bag which contained a horse shoe & some horse treats, so we got to feed the horses before we left which was lovely! I highly recommend pony dayz, we will definitely return for a family ride during the summer.Posted on Google![]()

I booked my 2 daughters in for a 3 hour pony morning during half term. They had the best time, it is lovely that they can get involved with so much more than just riding a horse. They loved meeting and grooming the ponies, tacking up, mucking out, getting the hay and riding through the beautiful woodlands. 10/10 would recommend, can't wait to go backPosted on Google![]()

My two daughters went for a half hour trek and had some tuition with grooming and putting on the tack. They both had a great time. Friendly helpful staff and lovely country side. Happy to recommend.
